Kenyan Girls Gone Wild

Top story today on Standard on sexual behavior of young girls (18-25) in Kenya. Interesting and thorough survey that has parents in shock and blaming the media.

What surprised me is the rate of lesbian activity in my beloved country. 8 percent of the girls who were surveyed admitted to having had girl-girl relations. Of course I am not saying there is nothing wrong with that.

It is shocking though the percentage of girls and boys who are sexually active and not using protection. Don’t they read and hear news of how prevalent AIDS is in Kenya? I do not understand how anyone can ignore the possibility of death.

In other news not related to Kenya and lesbianism, Anna Nicole Smith is dead. She lived a very intriguing and scandal filled life, may the good Lord rest her soul in peace.

  1. I just read the article. I don’t think it’s surprising that girls engage in lesbian relationships considering how many same-sex high schools there are. Teenagers especially are going to experiment. Blaming the media doesn’t accomplish anything, peroz are just looking for an easy way out.

Anna Nicole’s death is a surprise.

  2. thats one of the most poorly written article in my opinion – i cant make out wether ist an opinion piece or a plain article -why oesnt the reporter just report instead of passing judgement using words such as perversion etc. just report let us judger for ourselves

  3. I think there is alot of bollocks in that article. Like the statistic tgat said 47% of girls have had abortions when the real figure is 47% of girls who got pregnant got abortions; changing the statement entirely!
Plus I really have to see the raw data these people used, where the respondents come from and the statistics. I think there is alot of conjecture and data misused. It is true that there is alot of morality going on but I dont think the article is written in an objective manner. I wouldnt take the articles as gospel truth.

  4. I agree with you acolyte, even though the story makes sense i think the figures are doctored, Kenyans are known to keep secrets regardless of who you are talking with, i have not been in Kenyan for about 7 years but i do know that we do keep our personal life completely locked in we do not share. Also from reports read on other news sources i think young kenyans are more aware of AIDS that previously thought. Most of them know someone who has died of AIDS are protecting themselves

  5. i feel bad that only girls were being questioned. this will put unnecesary presure on the gilrs alone. how come boys were not subjected to this survey so that we know when they too broke their virginity.

another thing i would like to know is which percentage of grown up kenyan men went to bed with these young girls. its important to know how many perveerts and peodphiles we have around.

the survey sort off showed that kenyans think that societal sexual morality is a girls problem

  6. @gnd its true same-sex schools is a hub for lesbian activity, question is how come the same trend is not with boys boarding schools?
aco and kenyaonly, the figures are probably not doctored but I agree it is a misleading article, not subjective.
and reason the survey was a girl only is because it was partially sponsored by a girl’s magazine…which would create room for bias.
@odegle, I assume they didn’t have to do a survey of boys since 92% of the girls lost their virginity to guys, lol.
But true this survey with its significance should have been a comprehensive and objective study of morality including boys.

  7. i find the results of the study inconclusive. I think it is necessary to unambiguosly define the variables in context. It is highly likely that the term “engaged in lesbian activity” was very subjective …

  8. 3N what i meant is we would like to know whether they lost to boys (meaning their age mates) or to men meaning peodophiles. in fact the study should have focused on those adult men who prey on young imature girls who have little defence

  9. thats a good point Odegle since older Kenyan men are notorious for courting young girls.
even though they might not be peodophiles (40 yr old man with 21 yr old chic), it still would have been a more conclusive study if such facts were included.

  10. I agree with y’all about this article being biased with a judgemental view of young kenyan girls. Even if girls were the focus of the study, I support Odegle’s view that there should be info on the men/boys they had sex with. It’s always a double standard, a girl gets pregnant and she’s looked down on as though she did it on her own.

  11. It’s saddening that family, church, school,& community have lost their mentorship in nurturing the future generation-child
